Devantas™

Develop your advantage

The technology team and systems your business plan already assumes you have.

Fractional CTO leadership, custom software, and AI automation for companies that need senior judgment now — not a twelve-month search and a seven-figure org chart.

The gap

Most companies outgrow their technology support before they can justify replacing it.

You are past the point where IT is one person who is good with computers. You are not yet at the point where a full-time CTO is a defensible line item. In between, decisions still have to get made — about systems, spend, security, vendors, and what to build versus buy.

Devantas takes that seat. We bring senior technology leadership on a fraction of a schedule, and we bring the team to execute what we recommend — so strategy and delivery do not live in two different invoices.

01 — Services

Three services that are meant to be bought together.

Leadership without delivery is a slide deck. Delivery without leadership is a pile of software nobody owns. We do both, with the same people accountable for both.

Service 01

Fractional CTO / CIO

A CTO or CIO on your leadership team for the hours each month you actually need one — with the authority and the accountability that title implies.

  • Technology roadmap and budget ownership
  • Architecture and build-versus-buy decisions
  • Vendor, MSP, and contract oversight
  • Security and compliance posture
  • Team design, hiring, and technical interviews
  • Board and executive reporting in plain language
See the retainer packages →
Service 02

Automation & AI

Automation that removes real hours from real processes — with a clear, documented answer about where your data goes.

  • Document intake, extraction, and validation
  • Retrieval assistants grounded in your own content
  • Back-office and workflow automation
  • Self-hosted and private model deployments
  • AI governance, acceptable use, and audit trails
  • Pilot-to-production hardening
Service 03

Application development

Software shaped around the workflow you actually run, instead of the one your current vendor happens to support.

  • Internal platforms, portals, and admin tools
  • Systems integration and API development
  • Data pipelines, warehousing, and reporting
  • Legacy replacement and phased migration
  • Node.js · PostgreSQL · Docker · modern front end
  • Hosted by us or deployed on your infrastructure

Fractional CTO / CIO retainers

Three ways to hold the seat.

Pick the number of hours a month the seat gets. Every package starts with the same assessment you own outright, and moves from advice to ownership to delivery as the hours grow.

  • Risk, security, backup, and continuity review
  • Technology roadmap you own outright
  • Standing seat in leadership meetings, with a monthly review in plain language

Builder
40hours / month
Best fit

Companies ready to act on the plan and short of a team to build it: replacing a legacy system, launching a customer platform, or putting automation into daily work, with the seat and the builders under one accountable name.

  • Everything in Operator, plus
  • Execution and development services against the roadmap
  • Working software every two weeks, demonstrated in your environment
  • Training your team on AI and automation
  • Automation pilots hardened to production
  • Reporting and dashboards your leadership team actually reads
  • Systems integration after an acquisition
  • Monitoring, patching, and iteration on what we build
  • Source, documentation, and infrastructure access stay with you

02 — How we work

Four phases. You can stop after any of them.

Every engagement starts with an assessment you own outright. If the plan says the right move is to keep what you have and fix two things, that is what the plan will say.

01

Assess

We map systems, spend, contracts, risk, and workflow. You get an inventory of what you own, what it costs, where it is fragile, and the three things costing you the most in time or money.

02

Architect

A written plan with sequencing, cost ranges, and a named owner for every decision. Written for your operators and your board, not for a technology audience.

03

Build

A small senior team ships working software every two weeks. You see it running, in your environment, before you approve the next increment. No offshore hand-off, no ticket queue.

04

Operate

We stay on the hook — monitoring, patching, iteration, and the leadership seat if you want it. Documentation and source stay with you either way.

03 — Value

The arithmetic is not subtle.

04 — Ways to start

Three ways to start.

Advisory sprint

Assessment & roadmap

Two to four weeks, fixed fee. Systems inventory, risk review, and a sequenced plan you own — whether or not you engage us to build it.

Project build

Scoped delivery

Defined scope, milestone billing, two-week demos. Source, documentation, and infrastructure access transfer to you at completion.

05 — FAQ

The ones that come up on every first call.

What is a fractional CTO, and when does it make sense?

A fractional CTO is a senior technology executive who works with your company part-time on a recurring basis, carrying real decision authority rather than advising from the outside. It makes sense when technology decisions have started reaching your leadership table faster than anyone there can evaluate them, but the volume of work does not yet justify a full-time executive salary.

How is this different from hiring a managed service provider?

An MSP keeps your existing systems running. That is a real and necessary job, and we often work alongside one. What an MSP is not structured to do is decide what your systems should be, negotiate against its own contract, or build software that does not exist yet. We sit on your side of that table.

Will our data be used to train AI models?

No. Every AI engagement starts with a written data-handling decision: which vendors touch your data, what their retention terms are, and which workloads run on infrastructure you control. For sensitive workloads we deploy self-hosted models so nothing leaves your environment.

Who owns the code you write?

You do. Source, documentation, infrastructure configuration, and credentials are yours, in your repositories, from the first commit. There is no proprietary runtime you have to keep paying us to use.

How quickly can you start?

Assessment engagements typically start within two weeks of a signed agreement. Retainers begin at the start of the following month. Emergencies are a different conversation — call and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.

Can I change packages?

Yes. Packages can be upgraded or downgraded at any time.

What is the Devantas Client Portal?

A private workspace for your engagement, included in every package: secure data rooms for documents and diligence, project management tools for the roadmap and its owners, and one channel for communication, so nothing important lives in someone's inbox. Builder engagements add the Devantas Advanced Toolset: our custom-built SQL database, integration, and workflow tools.

What happens when we outgrow the retainer?

That is the plan. When a full-time technology leader is the right next step, we write the role, help you hire, and hand off the roadmap, documentation, and vendor relationships. We work ourselves out of a job.

Do you work with companies outside Nebraska?

Yes. We are based in the Omaha metro and work on site with regional clients regularly. Remote engagements are routine, with on-site visits scheduled around assessments, kickoffs, and quarterly planning.
